White coats don't lie ...
Article Abstract:
The commercial pressures facing many scientists today are clearly portrayed in 'Blinded by the Sun,' a new play by Stephen Poliakoff. In this play, a young researcher is shown to be under great pressure to achieve a result, and he therefore falsifies his results. Poliakoff believes that many scientists are now tempted to become involved in fraud as they are under great pressure to meet deadlines and display the relevance of their work.

Article Abstract:
Patricia Vaz's success as director of BT's payphones division has led to her receiving the latest Veuve Clicquot Businesswoman of the Year award. She joined BT at a low grade in 1975, but has risen through the company, determined to make up for her earlier lack of academic success. She has drawn on her experience as a bookkeeper to the Printing and Kindred Trades Federation, and has learned to succeed in a male-dominated environment.
