Where beer grows on trees
Article Abstract:
There are many interesting sights along the route from Madras, in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu, to Gudur, in Andhra Pradesh. There are few cars on the road, but the traveller may well encounter ox carts. At certain points, local villages lay cut rice plants on the road to allow the traffic to act as a threshing machine. Towards the end of the 100-mile journey, the scenery becomes rolling hill country. The state of Andhra Pradesh is an important centre for growing limes, and contains vast expanses of lime groves.

The trouble with trees
Article Abstract:
The UK's trees have managed to survive many problems during the course of the 20th century. These include disease, drought and pollution. However, they have generally managed to cope very well. The main problem now is people's attitudes towards trees. They expect trees to be in perfect health, and often plant them in inappropriate places. Man-made woods often lack character and diversity, and many young trees can never replace a few really old ones.

Trees, trees and more trees
Article Abstract:
Passengers on the Trans-Siberian Railway generally have a relaxing time, seeing little but trees as they pass through the vast Siberian landscape. However, there is frantic activity as the train arrives at remote stations, with passengers leaving the train to purchase local food. After several days aboard, passengers can lose track of reality, especially as the time on the train is not in line with local time.
