Have we got (no) news for you
Article Abstract:
There has been a gradual shift at ITV away from serious current affairs programming. Indeed, from 1999 there will be no mainstream news and current affairs coverage at all on ITV at peak viewing times. This development raises doubts about the future purpose of the Independent Television Commission. It now appears that the traditions of ITV, which has sought to be regarded as a public-service broadcaster, are being undermined by those who control it.
