The computer industry has become a key target for armed robbers, and some manufacturers, especially those located in Silicon Valley, are now taking extensive security measures. The market for stolen computer components is now worth an estimated $8 billion a year, according to the FBI, and computer crime is causing great expense for many businesses. Stolen components are often found on the 'spot market,' having come from a number of different sources.
