Why we will soon be better off than the Germans
Article Abstract:
Some observers feel that it is now time for the UK government to take a firm stand against the European Union, which recently has introduced a number of measures which seem set to have a particularly negative impact on the UK economy. However, others believe that there is no cause for immediate concern, as the UK could easily withdraw from the European Union at a later stage, and the European Union may well break up in any case. The UK is growing in self-confidence, and its economy will expand whether it remains a member of the European Union or not.

Why Britain would fare better on the fringe
Article Abstract:
The UK may find it difficult to remain inside the European Union if it chooses to retain its own currency and does not agree to follow the monetary and fiscal policies set down by the European Monetary Institute (EMI). At present, this situation seems unlikely to arise, but it is important that both the Conservative and Labour parties decide how they would react if it were to happen. It may be that the best position for the UK would be an informal association with the European Union, instead of full membership.

Good Europeans can say 'No' to a single currency
Article Abstract:
The debate about European monetary union (EMU) in the UK has become highly politically charged, and it now seems impossible to express opposition to EMU without also being considered anti-European. No feasible case is being made for establishing closer links between the UK and the European Union while also not going ahead with EMU membership. It is important to realise that going ahead with EMU would be extremely risky, and could endanger the future of the European Union as a whole.
