Universities must learn to listen
Article Abstract:
The number of complaints from students has risen considerably at UK universities. However, 28% of universities still do not have formal students complaints procedure. Furthermore, many universities are being slow to respond to the fact that students, who must make a substantial financial commitment to their course, are becoming increasingly demanding. In some cases, universities fail to publicize their complaints procedures, and in other cases the complaints procedures are not designed to deal with the type of complaints made by the students.

Students, will you pay as you learn?
Article Abstract:
Universities and colleges in the UK have become increasingly short of money following cuts in government funding. This has prompted some observers to express the view that students or their families should contribute to the cost of the education in the form of income-contingent loans which are repaid after graduation. Some students agree with this, believing that it is only fair to make a contribution, as they will benefit after gaining a degree. Others feel that imposing charges would deter many young people from entering higher education.

You can afford to pay us more
Article Abstract:
Lecturers at UK universities have suffered a relative fall in pay during a time of rapid expansion in higher education. The Association of University Teachers is now calling for a pay rise of 10% for lecturers, and plans a one-day strike. There will also be other disruptive action in Jun 1999, including weekly one-day boycotts of examinations and assessed coursework. David Triesman, the union's general secretary, emphasizes that universities spent 64% of their income on staff salaries in 1995, but that this has now fallen to 58%.

I have filed a complaint on University of Bedfordshire, Luton to the OIA, QAA and NUS for breaching many provisions of the complaint procedure and course misrepresentation .
If you can send me your email id I will send proof of course misrepresentation.
And this issue is burning since October 2008 .
For every allegations I raised they cleverly twisted facts to favour only their part .
And during the complaint proceedings they started sending us litigation mails to force us to withdraw our complaints .
My daughter was made to walk up and down the corridors of the University for 5 months under the pretext of discussions . It's shameful, disgusting and rotten to the core .
I have sent the relevant materials to Mr Josh Jones, Education Officer, University of Sussex for his reference and perusal .
Best regards
Alexander Mathew
