Computer timebomb ticks under London
Article Abstract:
The UK government is not taking the year 2000 computer date change problem seriously enough, according to Robin Guenier, Executive Director of Taskforce 2000. This organization was created to encourage government, businesses and the general public to address the year 2000 computer date change problem. However, is is suffering from a severe lack of funding. Guenier has warned that any large or medium-sized businesses which have not yet addressed this problem will face business failure.

The UK Labour party has adopted a tougher line on membership of a single European currency. It has stated that a future Labour government would not try to obtain UK membership of a single European currency if it believed that a referendum would not show support for such a move. He has emphasized that it would be most unlikely that a Labour government would take part in the first stage of a single currency.
