The Rolling Stones' new 'Bridges of Babylon' tour has the energy and spectacular effects which have come to be associated with this group. However, there are also signs of errors of judgement and insecurity. On the opening night of the tour, Mick Jagger seemed tense and nervous, and this was emphasized by the large and very clear video screen. There were a number of elements in the show which did not really work, but the climax was as spectacular as in previous Rolling Stones shows.

The musical 'Jesus Christ Superstar' developed out of music originally written by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice in 1969, and was first performed in the UK in Aug 1972. It ran for eight years, grossing 7.5 million pounds sterling. Sales of the album rose to 4 million copies, and total licence income was almost 92 million pounds sterling. The show is now being revived, and is shortly to open at the Lyceum Theatre in London, England.

The four works shortlisted for the 2001 Turner Prize are discussed. As in previous years, the works have attracted considerable controversy, with some observers feel that they are meaningless.
