You can't always get what you want ... even though the taxman does
Article Abstract:
The members of rock group the Rolling Stones have failed to reach an agreement with the UK Inland Revenue over their Foreign Earnings Deduction. They have therefore decided not to perform in the UK in the current tax year. Mick Jagger has shown himself to be an astute businessman, having had bad early experiences with managers. He scrutinizes contracts extremely carefully, and always takes professional advice. Some rock stars saw their career wane after seeking tax exile outside the UK, but this is far from the case with the Rolling Stones.

Do the Wall Street shuffle
Article Abstract:
Rock stars have seen very mixed success with their investments. The members of U2, for example, lost a great deal of money through making ill-advised investments in Germany to construct leisure centres, laser shooting games facilities and bowling alleys. The most successful rock stars in financial terms are those who licence their songs for soundtracks and commercials, retain control over their merchandising, share royalties equally with other band members and retain their own publishing rights.
