A Bonanza for Plant Genomics
Article Abstract:
A National Science Foundation plant genome initiative is one of several new sources of plant research funding that are providing a windfall to the plant research community. The budget for the NSF initiative is $40 million for 1998 and $50 million for 1999. Three/fourths of the funds will be spent on genetic studies of crops with economic importance.
