A New Human Ancestor?
Article Abstract:
Hominoid-like fossils found in Ethiopia will force paleoanthropologists to rethink the transition between the australopithecines to humankind. The species is named Australopithecus garhi, and is also the earliest evidence of humanoids butchering animals. The garhi has unusual characteristics, such as surprisingly large teeth and a very ape-like face, for a possible human ancestor.

No Last Word on Language Origins
Article Abstract:
Research indicates that the raw brain capacity and other physical requirements for complex language evolved in prehistoric man at least 150,000 years ago. However, there is no indisputable evidence for the type of modern behavior that indicates the use of language before about 50,000 years ago.
