A double dose of gamma-ray bursts
Article Abstract:
Data from the orbiting Gamma Ray Observatory indicate that astronomical gamma ray bursts, which have been detected since 1973, may fall into two classes. One class has a short duration, under a second, and contains a high proportion of high energy gamma rays. The other class of bursts lasts for tens or hundreds of seconds and contains more low energy gamma rays.
