A new voice for European scientists?

A group of European scientists founded Euroscience to improve relationships between science and society, and modeled it after the American Academy for the Advancement of Science. Initial study tasks include the future of young scientists and scientific cooperation with Eastern Europe.

SOHO probes sun's interior by tuning in to its vibrations
Article Abstract:
Three helioseismology experiments aboard the European Space Agency's SOHO solar observatory reveal information about the internal structure of the sun. Scientists are comparing data from this Solar Oscillations Investigation with that gathered by ground-based observations.

Scientists' champion leaves Europe's top research job
Article Abstract:
Antonio Ruberti is stepping down as the European Union's commissioner in charge of research on Jan. 25, 1995. Ruberti, who had bold plans for reshaping the EU's research program to make it more scientist-friendly, will be sorely missed by the scientific community.
