A thermodynamic "Vocabulary" for metal ion interactions in biological systems
Article Abstract:
The study focuses on metal ion-ligand complexes of biological relevance and measurements of the bond dissociation energies of such species. The importance of ion-dipole and ion-induced dipole interactions, chelation, conformation, tautomeric form, steric interactions, chelation, conformation, tautomeric form, steric interactions, and electronic effects such as hybridization and promotion is elucidated.

Fe (III) and Co (III) centers with carboxamido nitrogen and modified sulfur coordination: lessons learned from nitrile hydratase
Article Abstract:
Model complexes derived from designed ligands that contain donor groups is synthesized. A functional Co (III) model is synthesized that hydrolyzes nitriles ctalytically at pH which is close to the optimum pH of the enzyme. Studies have provided insight into how the unusual donor atoms dictate the overall properties of the biological M(III) sites.
