Adaptive roles of programmed cell death during nervous system development
Article Abstract:
The putative adaptive functions of the programmed cell death (PCD) in the animal kingdom are analyzed with a major focus on PCD in the developing nervous system. The genetic regulation of PCD has made it possible to inhibit PCD and determine the possible repercussions for nervous system development and function.

The hedgehog pathway and neurological disorders
Article Abstract:
The hedgehog (Hh) signaling and neural diseases, including neurodegenerative disorders and brain tumors, particularly medulloblastoma, are discussed. The discovery and utility of small molecule agonists and antagonists of this pathway and their potential as novel types of therapeutics are described.
