Ambiguity in the practice of science
Article Abstract:
The principle established by the US Department of Health and Human Services' Commission of Research Integrity that scientists 'be truthful and fair in the conduct of research and the dissemination of research results' ignores the ambiguity inherent in research. It requires that order be substituted for creativity.

K-12 education and support for science
Article Abstract:
Scientists should take an active role in the reform of science education to ensure continued support for basic research. The scientific community can reinforce teachers and support teacher training in science. Science museums are also an important part of science education.

Could the Internet Balkanize science?
Article Abstract:
The Internet could promote separations among scientists based on specialty and interest, fragmenting research. The Internet may promote a greater focus on depth and quantity at the cost of breadth and quality.
