Asymmetric phase-transfer catalysis utilizing chiral quaternary ammonium salts: asymmetric alkylation of glycine imines
Article Abstract:
One can generate a range of alpha-amino acid derivatives with high level of enantiomeric excess by employing enantioselective phase-transfer catalysts in the asymmetric alkylation of glycine amines. Major contributions by chemists all over the world have helped to establish asymmetric phase-transfer catalysis as a powerful tool for the construction of a wide range of natural and unnatural alpha-amino acids.

Physicochemical aspects of host-guest compounds
Article Abstract:
The thermal stabilities of crystalline inclusion compounds, are a function of the strength and the directionality of the various nonbonded interactions, occurring in the host-guest assembly. The kinetics involved in catalytic processes of solid-host: vapor-guest reactions and of guest exchange are studied.

Enamine catalysis is a powerful strategy for the catalytic generation and use of carbanion equivalents
Article Abstract:
Asymmetric enamine catalysis is shown to be quite powerful for the generation and use of chiral, nonracemic carbanion equivalents. It was found that proline indeed catalyzes the direct asymmetric three-component Mannich reaction of ketones with aldehydes and p-anisidine.
