Automation for the people
Article Abstract:
Pneumatics manufacturer KV Automation employs a total quality management (TQM) system to ensure that management within its three divisions remains consistent. The company, with an annual turnover of some 23 million pounds sterling, has split its core departments into mini companies called Quality Circles, which ensures that everyone in the units is included in discussions and decision-making. TQM has helped KV introduce and implement a Kanban system for its valve production.

Adhesive cure: adhesives are providing exciting new alternatives to brain surgery
Article Abstract:
Adhesives producer Chemence is working with Florida-based Cordis to develop a new medical adhesive that can be used as an alternative to brain surgery. The cyanoacrylate-based adhesive is designed to be fed through an artery in the groin and guided to the site of arterio-vascular malformation where a tiny drop is injected to stabilise the condition. The malformation then decomposes naturally without the need for invasive surgery.
