Black spots blot German coastal flats
Article Abstract:
German, Dutch and Danish scientists were worried about foul-smelling black spots in tidal flats in the Wadden Sea, inland from Germany's barrier islands. A very cold winter that killed many organisms, a giant algal bloom and oil pollution were blamed, but no short-term solution has been found.

Keeping alive the spirit of Einstein

A complicated ownership dispute is being waged in German courts over Einstein's summer house in Caputh. The city wants to turn it into a tourist attraction. The Einstein Forum hopes to use the building for scholarly meetings and projects.
