Nuclear weapons testing in India and Pakistan has stimulated antinuclear movements in South Asian countries. Journalists and scientists have educated the people on nuclear armaments causing awareness and protest marches on Aug 6, 1998, Hiroshima Day.

Smarajit Jana has found a way to cut down the incidence of HIV by organizing sex workers as any other labor collective. Jana trained a few sex workers to go around the houses of prostitution uttering about the virus and distributing condoms.
