Braking for Mars
Article Abstract:
The Mars Global Surveyor space probe uncovered new data on the planet Mars. It discovered magnetic anomalies under the planet's surface and observed layered canyon walls with shifting dune fields. The space probe also detected dust devils and light-colored depressions similar to dry lake beds.

Birth of a new sea?
Article Abstract:
The Bering Glacier, the second largest in North America, apparently is retreating. There is presently a beach that keeps icebergs from entering shipping lanes, but this may erode if the glacier retreats far enough and icebergs could then float into the Gulf of Alaska.

Life on Mars, again

Issues are presented concerning the discovery of magnetite crystals within a Martian meteorite which look very similar to chains made on Earth by bacteria. The debate over the question of life on Mars is discussed.
