Yield and flow behavior of initially anisotropic aluminum tube under multiaxial stresses
Article Abstract:
The yield and flow characteristics of an initially orthotropic material under multiaxial stresses are investigated. Experiments are conducted wherein an aluminum tube is loaded axially using a hydraulic-type multiaxial stress testing machine. A load cell with strain gages fixed to its surface is used to measure the axial load and torque. Results reveal that flow stress rises to a maximum value under a proportionally combined loading of axial load, internal pressure and torsion.

Buckling analysis of multiwalled carbon nanotubes under torsional load coupling with temperature change
Article Abstract:
The torsional buckling analysis of multiwalled carbon nanotubes subjected to thermal load is studied and numerical results of the general case are presented for thermal effect. It is concluded that at room or lower temperature the critical torsional load of a multiwalled carbon nanotube increases as the value of temperature change increases, while at higher temperature than room temperature the critical torsional load decreases as the value of the temperature change increases.

Residual stresses and surface roughness in turning
Article Abstract:
An experimental study of the influence of turning parameters on surface roughness and residual stresses was undertaken. Measurements and analysis of the results of variations in four process parameters were obtained by means of two steels that were machined by turning. The results showed that both residual stresses and surface finish were mainly influenced by the feed rate and the nose radius. Negligible roles were observed in cutting velocity and the primary rake angle.
