'Thinking Technology' in mature industry firms: understanding technology entrepreneurship
Article Abstract:
Technological innovation is slow in mature industry firms, despite their pressing need for technological development. Two major cognitive issues hinder technological entrepreneurship in these large, established firms, namely, a seemingly inherent inability to recognize the need for change and a difficulty to develop new ways of sharing information and new interpretations. Cognitive change is needed to introduce technological entrepreneurship in mature industry firms, as illustrated by three innovation episodes in three fictional mature industry firms.
