CIM: a challenge to technology management

Computer-integrated manufacturing (CIM) provides a method of breaking down product barriers. The International Institute for Applied Systems Analysisbased in Laxenburg, Austria, reports that the development of more complex products, higher quality control standards, and customer demand for product heterogeneity can be successfully met through strategic management and implementation of CIM.
