Cable-stayed skywalk connects university buildings
Article Abstract:
The main campus of Rockefeller University in New York, NY, will be linked to its residential buildings by a 170-ft long, 8-ft wide, cantilevered, cable stayed pedestrian bridge. The structure will be supported by a single 90-ft tower and two 45-ft tall tieback towers. It will be Y shaped with the tower functioning as the bending point. The bridge will allow pedestrians to walk over East 63rd St where it intersects Franklin Delano Roosevelt Drive. Bridge construction began in Mar 1999 and is scheduled to be completed by Dec 1999.

Bridge to the future
Article Abstract:
In an attempt to alleviate traffic congestions, the Outer Bangkok Ring Road, a 170 km long highway encircling the city is under construction, which is expected to carry four lanes of traffic in each direction. Construction of the bridge began in August 2004 and is expected to be complete in early 2007, providing a solution to traffic problems and a structure that would add beauty of the Asian metropolis.
