How cancer spreads
Article Abstract:
Cancer cells metastasize, or spread to other parts of the body, by evading controls that usually keep normal cells from moving. Cancer cells seem to lack cell-cell adhesion molecules, which keep cells from traveling. Tumor cells sometimes die before forming secondary tumors in other sites.

Cancer's psychological challenges

Cancer patients can improve the quality of their lives by using coping techniques. Some patients may benefit from positive thinking, while others may benefit from visualizing the destruction of cancer cells. Support sources include the family, compassionate physicians and religious groups.

What causes cancer?
Article Abstract:
People are more likely to develop cancer if they smoke or eat a diet high in saturated fat. Salt in the diet may also increase the risk of cancer. Carcinogenic substances in the workplace, pollution and lifestyles associated with socioeconomic status may also increase cancer risk.
