Chipping in: Brain chip for memory repair closes in on live tests
Article Abstract:
Researchers are trying to replace the damaged brain tissue in rats with a neural prosthesis in order to find out if it could restore memory from drug-induced amnesia. The success of this animal trial might enable the first human implant to use a model of monkey brain activity because the researchers cannot safely record the activity from humans to develop a human-specific model.
