"Claimsmanship": current perspective
Article Abstract:
Suggestions given to solve contract disputes in construction projects should not be taken as facts but should be seen as opinions and recollection of experiences. The tone of the suggestions imply that building owners adopt a hostile attitude towards contractors. The term 'claimsmanship' is not widely used in the industry and its definition is just a retelling of standard industry practices. The subject of contract diputes must be examined further and should study events that lead to disputes. It should be undertaken with the view that all solutions will be considered and how they will be applied to solve contract disputes.

Bidding strategy: winning over key competitors
Article Abstract:
A method that improves the possibility of securing a construction contract against other bidders through competitive bidding is given. Traditional techniques use histograms of the ratio of a bidder's bid to another's cost estimate. The histogram is numerically integrated to produce a function that gives the chances of getting the contract. The new model requires data on bidders' past cost estimates, the value of the bids, job timetable, low bidders and the winning bid. The model takes a bidder's work volume as a risk factor and accounts for multiple bidders and bids when combined with standard models.

Multiparameter bidding system - innovation in contract administration
Article Abstract:
Contracts in the construction industry are obtained through the competitive bidding system where cost is the crucial factor. However, this method has a lot of disadvantages such as project delays, cost overruns, defects in workmanship and liability suits. A new method is proposed that would compensate for the deficiencies of the competitive bidding system. The method would also consider time and quality besides cost. Safety, durability, security and maintainability would also be accounted for in this new system.
