Article Abstract:
New studies of the Himalaya and the Tibetan Plateau, which suggest a deep relation between climate and evolution of mountain systems is described and also, the development and evolution of mountain systems are, explored integrating theoretical and laboratory methods. Evidence suggests that northward slip along the South Tibetan fault system and simultaneous southward slip along the southern faults permit the southward extrusion of the fluid lower crustal channel below Tibet toward the Himalayan range front.
