Article Abstract:
Protecting biodiversity, whether in remote forests or in the concentrated hot spots on land and in the oceans is achievable. Some of the inexpensive measures are suggested that would ensure preservation of some two dozen scientifically determined locations such as coastal forest near Rio de Janeiro, Brazil toward maintaining Earth's biodiversity.

Experimental flooding in Grand Canyon
Article Abstract:
Jet tubes at Glen Canyon Dam were opened on Mar. 26, 1996 in an effort to improve the environment in and around the Colorado River. The flooding restored backwater habitats needed for spawning fish and also deposited sand above the normal high-water line.
