Combines earthquake, windstorm legislation become law
Article Abstract:
Legislation H.R. 2608 passed by Congress reveals the U.S preeminent program for reducing earthquake hazards, and eliminates a new federal effort to address threats posed by windstorms. The legislation that comprises of two bills is referred to as a measure to reauthorize the National Earthquake Hazards Reduction Program, the federal undertaking to minimize loss of life and property damage caused by earthquakes.

Prado seepage prompts brief evacuation

The U.S Army Corps of Engineers are repairing the seepage found in Prado Dam for which the officials have evacuated more than 2000 residents from the downstream dwellings. The details of the repair project are presented.
