Concurrent engineering: institutions, infrastructure and implementation
Article Abstract:
Institutional, procedural and infrastructure reforms in a company is needed in order to effect better performance in the adoption of concurrent engineering practices. Concurrent engineering is one of the better tools for 'first-to-market' product development objectives and entails free flow of communication in all parties pertinent to product development such that a shift from a sequential method is necessary to effect time and cost reductions.

A model for the application of data envelopment analysis (DEA) in activity-based management (ABM)
Article Abstract:
Data envelopment analysis (DEA), an established operational research method for productivity and efficiency determinations, was used to design a quantitative model for activity-based management (ABM). The proposed ABM/DEA model is capable of planning, improving and monitoring cost reduction programmes. Activity centers, which are considered to be the decision-making units, will find the the ABM/DEA model useful.
