Constitutive modeling of high-elongation solid propellants
Article Abstract:
A phenomenological analysis of the mechanical properties of high-elongation solid propellants is given. A three-dimensional finite strain model and a linear model incorporating a strain softening function are used in making another mathematical model to describe the solid propellant. This model is used in the computation of the general geometries and loadings used in study. The thermorheological phenomenon has been accounted in the softening function which permits the model to be calibrated easily and fitted in viscoelastic analysis.

Behavior of a unidirectional metal-matrix composite under thermomechanical loading
Article Abstract:
The experimental stress-strain curves for a unidirectional metal matrix (SiC/Al) composite, under longitudinal tensile loading, at 24, 288, and 399 degree celsius agree with predicted curves. The curves under conditions of transverse tensile loading agree with the predicted ones up to 399 degree celsius. Experimental curves between longitudinal and transverse thermal strains as a function of temperature are in good agreement with the predicted ones.

Thermomechanical behavior and modeling between 350 C and 400 C of Zircaloy-4 cladding tubes from an unirradiated state to high fluence (0 to 85.10(sup)24nm(sup)-2, E>1MeV)
Article Abstract:
Analysis of the irradiated Zircaloy-4 cladding tube data on biaxial tensile, creep, and relaxation tests demonstrate radiation hardening and creep strain reduction. Also presented is a viscoplastic model to simulate uni- and biaxial tensile, creep, and relaxation tests at temperatures between 350 C and 400 C and fluences.
