The domain name squabble over the Internet comes across as a governance issue, and not as a genuine effort to use Internet domain names to facilitate the search activity. Despite the seeming chaotic nature of the Internet, many of its users are the ones establishing the conventions used on the Internet.

No way to run a network
Article Abstract:
A plan to create global top-level domains for the Internet and open them up to competition has been technically sucessful but has encountered political opposition. Both Network Solutions Inc and the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers are targets of criticism.

Bringing down the Internet
Article Abstract:
Incorrect routing of Internet traffic, either accidental or intentional, can possibly lead to crippling of the Internet. Destabilization of the Internet system results when a misconfigured router successfully passed an incorrect traffic path to other routers.
