DOE and EPA embrace green power
Article Abstract:
A commercial-scale, low-polluting, power plant is being constructed by the Department of Energy and Siemens Westinghouse Power Corp. at an Environmental Protection agency laboratory facility. Combining fuel cells with a gas turbine, the process does not involve combustion which creates less emissions than fossil fuel-based power plants and creates electricity at 60% efficiency, double that of conventional power plants.
