Galvin's task force recommended that the management of DOE's network of laboratoriesbe assigned to a non-profit corporation that would be completely independent of DOE and congressional oversight. The DOE secretary's Energy Advisory Board did not embrace the idea.

Test reactor touted for bomb fuel
Article Abstract:
The Dept of Energy is considering restarting a reactor at the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory to produce tritium for nuclear weapons. The proposal would be less costly than alternatives but faces local opposition because of environmental concerns.
