Desert Elephants of Namibia

Dr. Keith Leggett, who worked with local conservancies and communities to determine the extent of local knowledge about wildlife movements and conflicts with humans, has conducted an investigation of elephant population ecology in the arid region of Namibia Desert. The project defines the ecology and social structure of desert-dwelling elephant herds for effective management.

The project is undertaken for assessing the hydrological history of Gobi desert to learn how desert grow. Prof. Wei-Zu Gu and his project team are conducting a baseline survey of the area of Gobi Desert around the Alxa Plateau to uncover the hydrologic history of the region.
