Dredging up toxic sediments
Article Abstract:
A lake near the North Hollywood Dump in Memphis, TN, was restored into a safe fishing site after almost 30,000 fishes were contaminated with municipal and industrial wastes. A remedial design program confirmed the presence of contamination within the top two feet of the sediments of the lake. The contaminated fishes were then harvested to protect the fishermen in the area. The cover material of the lake was then hydraulically excavated using an Elicot 307 dredge.

Article Abstract:
Computer modelling of airborne pollution levels is useful for evaluating the long-term impact of an industrial process and is also an aid in identifying the source of pollution at a given location. Furthermore, these computer models can be analyzed together with the forecast of weather conditions to predict pollution levels of the next six days. Two types of air pollution modelling exist, namely the short-range model and the long-range model.
