EPA says chemical use reporting proposal due in early 1997
Article Abstract:
An EPA proposal for companies to report chemicals used in production has met with opposition from industries, which claim that the agency is overstepping its bounds. According to the EPA, chemical use reporting will encourage pollution prevention planning. However, many companies claim that they already have in place material accounting systems which they use to track chemical use. Under the proposal, companies would track chemicals entering and leaving their plants.

Regional ozone group ends study; states, EPA near plan to cut NOx
Article Abstract:
The Ozone Transport Assessment Group is an organization comprised of 37 states looking for a solution to ozone air pollution problems. It was launched in May 1995 when the EPA gave the states more time to formulate a regional plan to control ozone and its forerunners, volatile organic compounds and nitrogen oxides. These member-states were those which failed to develop plans toward the attainment of ozone air quality standards under the Clean Air Act.
