Photocatalytic degradation of selected s-triazine herbicides and organophosphorus insecticides over aqueous TiO2 suspensions
Article Abstract:
The degradation of the s-triazine herbicides irgarol, atrazine, cyazine, propazine, and prometryne; and the organophosphorus instecticides ethyl parathion, ethyl bromophos, methyl parathion, methyl bromophos, and diclofenthion are studied in the presence of both solar light and artificial light. Degradation routes are charted to show the possible byproducts of pesticide and herbicide photodegradation.

Enhanced photocatalytic activity of nafion-coated TiO2
Article Abstract:
TiO2 is modified with the addition of sulfate and phosphate to enhance photocatalytic activity in the herbicide and pollutant Paraquat. Paraquat degradation is graphed in the presence of Nafion-TiO2 in combination with phosphate, sulfate, nitrate, and chloride. The presence of anionic compounds remains problematic.

Effectiveness of a constructed wetland for retention of nonpoint-source pesticide pollution in the Lourens river catchment, South Africa
Article Abstract:
An artificial wetland area in Lourens River, South Africa is studied for its ability to control the movement of hydrophopic chemicals (mostly insecticides) from agricultural areas into surface water. A chemical evaluation of insecticides at the inlet and outlet of the wetlands is conducted, as well as an investigation of the mortality rate of midges at the inlet and outlet. Samples are graphed during the rainy and dry seasons, and at different times of the day.
