Detailed sorption isotherms of polar and apolar compounds in a high-organic soil
Article Abstract:
Sorption isotherms of polar solids and of apolar solids and liquids demonstrate shape and hystersis consistent with a glassy polymer model. Experimental methods are described in detail and accompanying charts and graphs provide additional statistical data.

Effect of solute concentration on sorption of polyaromatic hydrocarbons in soil: uptake rates
Article Abstract:
Seven soil samples are exposed to phenanthrene and pyrene to determine the sorption rates of polyaromatic hydrocarbons in soil at different concentrations of organic content. Sorption rates are plotted for each soil type.

Mechanisms of slow sorption of organic chemicals to natural particles
Article Abstract:
Activation energy of sorptive bonds and mass-transfer limitations (molecular diffusion) are the possible causes of slow sorption and desorption at the interparticle level. Sorption to natural particles is a process underlying the transport, degradation and biological activity of organic compounds in the environment. Two models presented as the most likely causes of slow sorption in natural particles, the organic matter diffusion model and the sorption-retarded pore diffusion model, are discussed.
