Effects of fulvic acid on Fe(II) oxidation by hydrogen peroxide
Article Abstract:
An examination of Fenton's reaction in the absence of light in systems containing hydrogen peroxide and iron at concentrations similar to those in acidic surface waters reveals that fulvic acid is simultaneously a carboxylate ligand, a radical scavenger and a reductant of Fe(III). A kinetic model describing the behavior of Fe(II) and hydrogen peroxide in experimental systems is developed, which can be useful in understanding fulvic acid's conflicting roles in Fe oxidation and reduction.

Kinetics and mechanism of the reaction of hydrogen sulfide with lepidocrocite
Article Abstract:
The erythrocite maturing factor of a hydrogen sulfide-sensitive electrode cell was monitored to study the reaction of the sulfide itself with ferric oxide surfaces in the acidity range of natural waters. Synthetic lepidocrocite and dissolved sulfide were subjected to kinetic batch experiments to measure the total dissolved sulfide. It was found that the initial products formed during the experiments were polysulfides and elemental sulfur.

Photodegradation of EDTA in the presence of lepidocrocite
Article Abstract:
A conceptual model for the photodegradation of ethylenediaminetetraacetate in the presence of lepidocrocite has been constructed based on laboratory evidence together with kinetic modeling. It was used to determine the influence of pH and of oxygen on the photodegradation pathway in heterogeneous aqueous media.
