Endocrine disruptor research planned by White House, agencies, industry
Article Abstract:
Government, industry and the research sector will focus on improving endocrine disruptor research because of its wide implications to human and animal health. All three sectors will intensify their efforts to update data on endocrine-disrupting chemicals to clarify the issues linking these chemicals to the decrease in sperm counts and quality, and the development of breast, prostate and testicular cancers. A national research plan that aims to summarize all federally funded and industry research projects is expected to be completed by the end of 1996.

Article Abstract:
Sec. of State Warren Christopher's Apr. 9, 1996, speech at Stanford University drew mixed reactions from foreign affairs and environmental communities. Some felt that Christopher's plan of integrating environmental issues into foreign policy is long overdue while others believe that the plan is a fundamental change in the Dept. of State which increases the emphasis on the relationship between environment and national security.
