Estimating optimum water content and maximum dry unit weight for compacted clays
Article Abstract:
A description of various types of fills and their optimum dry densities is presented. Fill types include select import, or processed material; mixed borrow, or differently classified materials; uniform borrow, or a consistent and natural material; and borrow containing oversize particles, such as cobble and coarse gravel.

Effect of fines and confining stress on undrained shear strength of silty sands
Article Abstract:
The criteria directing silty sand shear strength are discussed and rated. These include whether the fines are plastic or nonplastic, and how sandy soils are categorized, which helps calculate load deformation resistance and friction rates.
