The views of Vincent
Article Abstract:
The town of Arles, France, has close associations with artist Vincent Van Gogh. He arrived in the town in Feb 1888 in search of clear air and bright colours, linking these very closely with the Japanese prints he greatly admired. Visitors to the town can see the places where he worked, where replicas of his paintings have been placed. The cafe where he painted 'Cafe Terrace at Night' has been restored, and there is a permanent exhibition celebrating his life and work at the Van Gogh Foundation.
