Evaluation of ELISA kits followed by liquid chromatography-atmospheric pressure chemical ionization-mass spectrometry for the determination of organic pollutants in industrial effluents
Article Abstract:
The enzyme linked immunosorbent assays (ELISA) kits followed by liquid chromatography-atmospheric pressure chemical ionization-mass spectrometry proved useful in identifying the organic pollutants in industrial effluents. The developed process permitted the identification of target analytes such as pentachlorophenol, nonylphenol, dibutylphthalate, dimethylphthalate, bis(2-ethylhexyl)phthalate, 2-methylbenzenesulfonamide present in the industrial effluents.

Tracing organic contaminants in groundwater: a new methodology using compound-specific isotopic analysis
Article Abstract:
The extraction of toluene, xylene, ethylbenzene, and benzene isomers from water enables the use of compound-specific isotopic analysis techniques to trace contaminants at sites. The extraction is accomplished using pentane, and the technique can be used to extract other types of monoaromatic compounds. The technique enables the use of a gas chromatography/combustion/isotope ratio mass spectrometry to analysis organic contaminants.

Solid-phase enrichment, thermal desorption, and ion mobility spectrometry for field screening of organic pollutants in water
Article Abstract:
Techniques for on-site screening of organic pollutants in water samples include thermal desorption, ion mobility spectrometry (IMS) and extraction with alkyl-bonded membranes. A quick sampling technique for changing IMS into an aqueous-media analyzer is the use of solid-phase enrichment along with thermal desorption. This simple and convenient method can be applied to the screening of molecules that have low vapor pressures.
