Preconcentration of organic compounds from water across dialysis membranes into micellar media
Article Abstract:
The possibility of uphill netral organic compound transport across cellulose ester dialysis membranes and into a micellar solution was examined by analyzing membrane memory effects and the extraction of targeted analytes in the solid-phase onto cellulose acetate. Results revealed that naphthalene transport rate across the dialysis membrane was enhanced by interaction with the micellar solution. The process occurs even in conditions where the concentration of naphthalene in the receiver solution is greater than in the sample.

Evaluation of the sorption of volatile organic compounds by unsaturated calcareous soil from Southern Nevada using inverse gas chromatography
Article Abstract:
Vapor phase sorption of several types of organic compunds by a calcerous soil obtained from Southern Nevada was studied using inverse gas chromatography. The results showed that sorption isotherms for dry soil were nonlinear and featured chromatographic peak shapes which were determined by finite desorption kinetics. Wet soil featured a much smaller degree of sorption of non-hydrogen bonding compounds.
