Evolving solutions
Article Abstract:
A report from IT analyst Ovum predicts that sales of enterprise resource planning (ERP) software will reach $14 billion by 2002. Growth will be fueled by the increasing interest in ERP and the recognition of its benefits as a general production planning system. SAP produces the most successful ERP system, with its R/3 software being used by around 9,000 sites throughout the world. However, the report underlines some deficiencies in ERP software, including its disappointing ability to handle crises, lack of advanced functionality and limited use of shopfloor scheduling.
