Article Abstract:
Controlling beach erosion is a complex problem which requires a multidisciplinary understanding and effort. Business developers, federal and local regulations, and the fragile ecosystem of the coasts limit the development of an effective control system. Beach nourishment is a method frequently used to control flood and erosion. However, it has a limited scope due to the unpredictability of coastal ecosystem. Wave breaking is another method that tries to restructure the shore system by bolstering shoreline.
