Global ban on organotin ship paints proposed by UN maritime group
Article Abstract:
The United Nations' International Maritime Organization is proposing a worldwide ban on the use of organotin biocides in ship anti-fouling paints. The organotin biocides, including tributyltin (TBT), were found to cause sex changes in shellfish and harm other marine life. TBT-based paints, which have already been banned in every European country and the US, are still being used on large ships sailing internationally.

Proton-transfer chemical-ionization mass spectrometry allows real-time analysis of volatile organic compounds released from cutting and drying of crops
Article Abstract:
Researchers from the University of Colorado and Environmental Research Laboratories, CO used proton-transfer chemical-ionization mass spectrometry technique to measure in real-time the volatile organic compounds released from the wounding and drying of clover, alfalfa and corn cutting during crop harvest.
